Analysis of Household Preparedness in Facing Earthquake Disaster in Batipuh District, Tanah Datar District, 2018

Abstract

The objective of Batipuh Subdistrict was to be crossed by a semangko fault which caused a land earthquake of 5.8 SR which resulted in 740 building units being damaged and 67 fatalities in 2007 and 2014. The purpose of this study was to analyze factors related to household preparedness in facing earthquake disaster in Batipuh District. Methods This study used a cross-sectional design, the number of samples was 105 households with simple random sampling technique. Data collection was carried out through interviews using a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis, bivariate analysis with Chi-Square test and multivariate analysis using Logistic Regression. The results of the univariate analysis showed that more than half of the respondents were less prepared to face the earthquake (75.2%). The results of the bivariate analysis showed that education (p = 0.0001), income (p = 0.0001), basic needs (p = 0.0001) and IEC (p = 0.0001) had a relationship with preparedness. Meanwhile, knowledge (p = 1,000) and attitude (p = 0.576) had no relationship with preparedness. The result of multivariate analysis showed that the most dominant variable related to preparedness was income (POR = 4,9). Conclusion. Income variable is the most dominant variable on preparedness. It is hoped that local governments can provide counseling to increase public knowledge, provide infrastructure, facilitate community access so that people can increase their income to meet their needs, especially in disaster preparedness.
