Abstract

The process of rehabilitation and reconstruction of houses after the earthquake that occurred on Saturday, May 27, 2006 in Yogyakarta has been carried out on houses that were severely, moderately and lightly damaged. The earthquake in Yogyakarta and its surroundings was caused by the pressure of the Indo Australia plate from the south against the Eurasian plate. The housing development process is carried out with a focus on community empowerment and coordinated participation through community groups (Pokmas). The number of respondents in this study were 17 respondents, from the Yogyakarta area as many as 15 respondents and from the Central Java area as many as 2 respondents. Due to several obstacles, such as limited time for the respondent to be interviewed, 1 respondent was interviewed by phone. The process of implementing rehabilitation and reconstruction proceeded relatively quickly and was quite successful.
