Post-earthquake Impact, Fear of Failure, SME Performance, Entrepreneurs’ Wellbeing in Padang Pariaman
Abstract
SMEs have an important role in Indonesia’s economic development. SMEs have contributed positively in creating new job opportunities and enhancing innovation. Nowadays business environment is characterized by high levels of competition. This creates many difficulties and challenges for SMEs in many ways. SMEs need to be more competitive in order to grow. Failing in business will result in many negative effects. SMEs in Padang-Pariaman not only need to cope with failure but also face constant threat from natural disaster. In the past, SMEs in Padang-Pariaman were shook by an earthquake that inflicted many casualties to the region. Recently it has been predicted that in the near future that megathrust earthquake will occure in this region. The objective of this study is to examine the relationship between post-earthquake impact, fear of failure influenced on SME’s performance and later wellbeing. It was found that post-earthquake impact is positively and significantly related to fear of failure in the context of Padang-Pariaman. SME performance in Padang-Pariaman is positively and significantly related to entrepreneurs’ wellbeing.
